About Saraburi Counsel

A Practice Built on Patience and Principle

Serving families across Saraburi and Central Thailand in inheritance and estate matters since 2009.

Our Story

Saraburi Counsel was established in 2009 by a small group of Thai lawyers who had each spent the previous decade working in Bangkok firms, often representing families navigating the complexities of inheritance law without adequate support. They observed that estate and probate matters were frequently handled in an impersonal and hurried manner, leaving families confused about both the process and the costs involved.

The founders believed that Saraburi — a mid-sized provincial city with a growing community of both Thai residents and foreign nationals — deserved a practice that placed proper weight on clarity, pacing, and professional conduct. They opened a modest office on Mittraphap Road and took on their first matters quietly, by referral.

Over the following years the practice grew steadily, guided by a simple principle: that legal counsel in sensitive family matters should be given, and received, at the pace the situation genuinely requires. This has shaped everything from the way we structure consultations to the way we communicate with courts and opposing parties.

Today, Saraburi Counsel is a recognised point of contact for inheritance and estate matters in the region. Our work spans straightforward will drafting sessions, complex multi-jurisdiction estates, and probate proceedings in the Saraburi Provincial Court and, where necessary, in the courts of Bangkok and other provinces.

Our clients include Thai nationals settling family estates, foreign nationals with property held in Thailand, and expatriate families requiring guidance on how Thai succession law interacts with the laws of their home countries. In each case, we work toward a clear outcome, communicated honestly throughout.

Inheritance Law in Thailand — Our Approach

Inheritance law in Thailand is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, Books V and VI. These provisions set out the classes of statutory heirs, the conditions for a valid will, and the procedures by which an estate must be administered through the court. Navigating this framework without experienced legal counsel — particularly where assets span more than one country — is a process that carries meaningful procedural risk.

At Saraburi Counsel, we approach each matter by first establishing a clear picture of the estate: what assets are held in Thailand, how they are titled, and whether any existing wills — in Thailand or elsewhere — address them adequately. From this foundation, we advise on the most appropriate course of action, whether that is drafting a new will, commencing probate proceedings, or coordinating with foreign lawyers on a cross-border administration.

We are based in Saraburi and practise primarily in the provincial courts of Saraburi, Lopburi, and Nakhon Ratchasima, as well as in the courts of Bangkok when the complexity of a matter requires it. Our client base reflects the diversity of the region: Thai families, long-term expatriate residents, and overseas nationals with Thai property interests.

What distinguishes our practice is not a particular claim to speed, but a commitment to doing each matter properly. Inheritance proceedings involve real families at often difficult moments. We believe that legal counsel at these times should be given with care, and that a well-handled estate is one where every party — heirs, administrators, and courts — understands what has taken place and why.
